Curtain Fabric

Curtain fabric is a main factor for comfort and safety on board. Like privacy protection. Make the crew and passengers feel secure or preventing sun glare to cause (near) accidents. For the best performance curtain fabric has a polyester film, or the fabric is treated. Because of the many different sizes of windows and ports aboard, the fabric must be suitable to fit in: rectangle, isosceles and trapezoid shapes.

Properties curtain fabric

The curtain fabric on board of vessels or offshore platforms needs toUV blockingDepending on the openness factor, a solar screen shades block a certain percentage of the UV rays from passing through the fabric. The tighter the weave the lower the openness factor and the more UV rays the screen shades block.Privacy protectionMarine curtains can cover the various windows on board to guarantee privacy protection. The level of privacy protection depends on the condition of the window or port too. In an open position the level of protection is limited.Sound insulationCurtain fabric will not only reduce exterior sound, but also deaden the sound in the cabin and keep it from echoing.Noise preventionPhysical changes on board to reduce the exposure to sound can easily and esthetically done with a marine curtain, for example in a cabin

Polyester film for safety and hygiene on board

The environment of the marine curtains makes the fabric very sensitive for unhealthy microscopic bacteria, viruses, and fungi. A polyester film, or biocidal coating, on the textile surface can have antimicrobial compounds attach to the surface to inhibit the growth of bacteria (bacteriostatic) or kill bacteria (bactericidal). These antibacterial properties to the polyester film or curtain coating would be beneficial in the prevention of germs bacteria. This will also reduce the impact of odor molecules. When the fabric is mixed or dipped in a flame retardant solution, the fabric will be flame retardant permanently. This will improve safety on board, especially as the marine curtains are not a fixed object on board but tend to easily move and spread any fire when not flame retardant.

Marine curtain to cover any window size

The curtains will cover the various window types:

  • Rectangle
  • Isosceles
  • Left oblique
  • Right oblique
  • Trapezoid
